Banking system plays a key role in the development of economy.  The forum of State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) acts as a platform to coordinate the efforts of all Banks. Central/State Govt. and various developmental agencies to bring about sustainable development of the State’s economy.

Making available key information relating to development activities on public domain will help all agencies engaged in development of State economy to take stock of their policies and programmes and reorient the same with a view to bring about inclusive growth.

The launch of www.slbcgujarat.com website of SLBC - Gujarat will serve as a knowledge centre and bring about higher degree of transparency in various issues discussed in the forum of SLBC from time to time. The website will provide information about Key Banking parameters, implementation of Annual Credit Plan by Banks, growth in priority sector credit, flow of credit to agriculture, progress in issuance of Kisan Credit Cards, SME, education, housing, progress under SHG- Bank linkage, implementation of poverty allevation programmes, progress under Financial Inclusion, issuance of Swarojgaar Credit Card, Artisans Credit Card, and many more developmental schemes.

I am sure that the website will facilitate Banks, RBI, NABARD, Government agencies and other agencies to have first hand information about various financial / developmental activities being carried out in the State of Gujarat.

I hope all the stakeholders in the development of the State will wholeheartedly extend support to SLBC as they did in the past in the wake of unprecedented Earthquake in the year 2001, and other natural Calamities that struck the state of Gujarat thereby enabling the people of the State to regain their economic pursuits.
